My eye muscle was trapped below the fracture, which immobilized my eye movement. My reconstructive surgery was performed by Dr. David Rasmussen who I met in the emergency room at Scripps La Jolla. The complicated surgery went very well. Dr. Rasmussen was very supportive and attentive to my concerns throughout. I had many worries about the different physical traumas and the recovery process associated with the fall. He visited me before and after the surgery in the hospital and personally followed up with me weekly during my recovery, either by phone text or in-person office visits. He seemed genuinely concerned with my progress and very patiently answered my many questions. I feel very lucky to have had Dr. Rasmussen for my maxillofacial surgeon!
